A graduate of International Economics (B. Sc. und M.Sc.) at Maastricht University, Hanna Krings works as an academic assistent and doctoral student at the Research Unit International Economics since 2012.
Her dissertation focuses on the consequences of resource extraction on the environment of developing countries. She investigates the trade relations between industrial nations and developing countries rich in raw materials, as well as political and socio-economic prerequisitions of countries involved. Within the Rebound-E.NRW project (rebound effects in NRW on behalf of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia) she analyses the trade flows of discarded electronic devices, their extended life cycle in developing countries and the effects on the global power consumption.
She supervises the tutorials of the bachelor courses „Mikroökonomie II“ and „The Global Economy: Trade and Investment“ as well as of the master course „Development Economics“.
